Bit of History - March 29, 2023

I am interested in getting more information about the Ridgeway Church of Christ.  The  question first came up when I was researching the history of the Ridgeway central telephone office and found the the building was sold by Grand River Mutual in November 1957 to two elders of the Church of Christ:  Marco Davis and Jewell E. Brammer.  (Bethany R-C, Nov 27, 1957). Prior to the purchase, the Church of Christ advertised weekly services “in the Bennett building on the east side of the street” conducted by Evangelist John Van Boris.  They also hosted a “preaching rally” in over three days in November 1956 on “Nine Things that will Terminate at the Second Coming of Christ”.  The Church of Christ still met in Ridgeway as late as 1973 when they, along with several other Ridgeway area churches including the Christian, Methodist, Baptist and Assembly of God, sponsored a week-long evangelistic crusade in August 1973 in the Ridgeway Field House.  There is no mention of the Ridgeway Church of Christ in either volume of the Ridgeway: Then and Now books, however, so if you remember this church and would like to share your memories, please let me know.
