ALDERMEN MEETING: The city Board of Aldermen will meet on Monday, August 18 at 6 pm in the Ridgeway Community Room at City Hall. If you have an item for the agenda, please contact city clerk Brooklyn Scobee during business hours. The city office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4 pm, though please note that the office may be closed for a time on Monday mornings to allow the staff to run errands for the city.
Prior to the aldermen meeting, the board will hold the annual city tax rate hearing. This is a required annual meeting; the rate is expected to remain the same.
BINGO: There were 51 attendees at the last Bingo night, themed “Hometown Picnic” featuring ice cream. The next Bingo Night will be October 5 with a Halloween or fun Fall Outfit contests for both youth and adults. There is no Bingo in September due to Labor Day.
E-WASTE RECYCLING: While we didn’t fill up the truck, those who brought items for recycling were glad to get rid of a few things and keep them out of the landfills. Thank you to all who helped with the event!
SCHOOL NEWS: The Ridgeway R-V school district is hosting a “Back to School Bash” to welcome students to the 2026-27 school year. The event will be at the school on Wednesday, August 19 from 4 pm to 6:30 pm. Students and their families can come to register for the school year, get information on Title 1, pick up free school supplies and enjoy the Owls Club ice cream bar.
SOCIETY: Walter Plant will return to Morris Chapel on Sunday, August 30 with a concert at 4 pm followed by ice cream and snacks. Walter performs with five keyboards, talented singing voice, and inspiring lyrics. All are welcome to attend: the church is located five miles north of Bethany on Highway 69.
