National FFA Week begins this Saturday. In 1965, Ridgeway’s Vocational Agriculture program was featured for FFA Week on the front page of the Feb 24th edition of the Bethany Republican-Clipper for doing so well in its annual review. There were 32 students in Ridgeway’s ag program and J. A. McKinney, district supervisor, considered the program to be a strong one. The chapter’s accomplishments included the cooperative FFA hog sale, conducting Wildlife Conservation projects as part of the Sears Foundation (one of only two chapters in the Northwest District to do so) and adding new tools for the expanded study of small gas engines.
Also on the front page was a photo of Ridgeway’s Chapter Sweetheart Sandra Polley dancing with FFA chapter president Jim Milligan in the first dance of the FFA-FHA Sweetheart ball. An official FFA Sweetheart jacket was presented to Miss Polley as part of the ceremony.
