In January 1964, Ridgeway and Bethany Methodist churches were blessed with the preaching of a world-renowned evangelist, Mrs. Geraldine Conway of Lucasville, Ohio. According to Rev. Bart Lockwood, pastor of the Ridgeway church, she was rated up with Dr. E. Stanley Jones and Rev. Billy Graham as one of the greatest evangelists of the decade. In addition to preaching at both Ridgeway and Bethany churches, she led a one-day Ashram service in Ridgeway. The article went on to say that “Ashram”, a Hindi word from meant “spiritual life retreat” and that many churches were invited to attend the retreat in Ridgeway. Mrs. Conway was active in radio, television and writing and had a weekly radio broadcast. She traveled to 40 different countries to spread the message.
