CITY NEWS: The Board of Alderman has changed their June meeting due to scheduling conflicts. They will meet on Thursday, June 18 at 6 pm in the Community Room at City Hall. If you have an item that needs to be added to their agenda, please contact city clerk Brooklyn Scobee at the city office during business hours.
The City-Wide garage sales are on the calendar for June 26-27. If you are planning a sale and would like to be added to the list, please stop by the city hall office and fill out a sign up sheet or email ridgewaycba@gmail.com for a copy. Sign up sheets are also available on the side of the Little Free Library and at Virgil T’s and Paula’s Sewing Corner. The lists will be available the week before the sales. You are responsible for your own advertising.
The Ridgeway Community Betterment Association is working hard to plan this year’s 4th of July to celebrate the 250th birthday of our nation. They need volunteers to help prepare, serve and clean-up this year’s post parade lunch. Please consider volunteering to help make this the best 4th of July celebration possible!
To add some more fun to the celebration, RCBA is organizing games in the park from 2 pm to 4 pm, though people can stay later to enjoy the park if desired. So far, they are planning on a tug-of-war competition. Horseshoes, corn hole boards, croquet and a volleyball net may be available for anyone to play. They are also asking for families or groups to sponsor old-fashioned games or races such as three-legged races, sack races or something similar. Game organizers will be responsible for providing equipment and running the games; prizes are optional. For more information, please contact a board member or email ridgewaycba@gmail.com. RCBA board members are Gloria Craig, Susie Rollheiser, Kristi Reeder, Tammy Harding, Sydney Craig, Paula Scott and Joni Sequira.
There will be no Bingo or RCBA scrapbooking in July due to the holiday. Scrapbookers will not meet again until October as their regular meetings would fall on either a holiday weekend or the weekend of the electronics recycling event. They will meet again on October 3.
As you are getting ready for the garage sales, put aside your old electronics for the E-Waste Recycling Day! The Ridgeway Community Betterment Association, Ridgeway Technical Services and Virgil T’s are co-sponsoring an electronics recycling event on Saturday, August 8 from 9 am to noon outside the Old Ridgeway Hall. A list is available of what items will be taken for free, what items require a fee and what items will not be accepted – please contact Paula Scott at 660-872-6500 or email ridgewaycba@gmail.com for more information.
SOCIETY: The community sewing groups will meet on Monday, June 15 from 1 pm to 4 pm to work on bags for the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home. They are also working on red, white and blue quilt blocks for a patriotic quilt. Anyone is welcome to join this group – you do not need to attend that church, bring a sewing machine or even have sewing experience.
CLOSING: If you know of any events or plans around town that you would like to see shared with others, please send me the details by Sunday evening! Thank you for reading! Wave to your neighbors.
