Ridgeway News -- April 1, 2026

CITY NEWS:  Don’t forget to vote in Tuesday’s municipal elections!  Ridgeway citizens will vote for mayor and two aldermen.  There is also a question in which voters can decide if Ridgeway will institute a use tax.   In addition, there are three positions open on the school board.

The annual Ridgeway Easter Egg Hunt is planned for this Saturday, April 4 in the Ridgeway City Park.  The hunt will start at 10 am and all area children are invited to join in the fun.  Volunteers are needed to help hide eggs that morning; for more information, contact one of the Ridgeway Community Betterment Association board members.  In the event of inclement weather, the hunt will be held at the school gym.

There was a nice turnout for the second Spring into Homesteading last Saturday at the Ridgeway school gym.  There were seven presentations on a variety of topics including water conservation, soil testing, food preservation, sewing machine maintenance and keeping an older computer operational.  They also got to watch a demonstration of how homemade vanilla is made and how to start seedlings without using plastic pots by making soil cubes.  They got to visit with a number of exhibitors and vendors and enjoy a great lunch by Bob’s Place.

The Ridgeway Community Betterment Association would like to thank the visitors, exhibitors and presenters for this year’s Spring in Homesteading event!

There will be NO Bingo in April due to Easter.  The next Bingo night will be May 4 at 6:30 pm in the Ridgeway Community Room.

SCHOOL NEWS:  Congratulations to the students who have been named to the honor roll at Ridgeway R-V.  There were a total of 25 students from first through twelfth grade named to either the A or A/B honor rolls.  Twenty-eight students won awards for having 95% or better attendance and 3 students in the Pre-K through fifth grade classes received an award for 100% attendance!  Way to go, Ridgeway Owls!

Screenings for future preschoolers are scheduled for Friday, April 10.  Parents are asked to bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and social security card.  Appointments are required, so please either call the school at 660-872-6813 or contact Shelly Lovitt or Brandy Cook.
